Getting hereThe conference will be held at Perry World House; 3803 Locust Walk, on Penn campus.
The UPenn campus, where Perry World House is located, is in University City. University City is a neighbourhood on the west bank of the Schuylkill River. On the east bank is Center City, which, as the name implies, is the main commercial center of Philadelphia. The main ways to travel to Philadelphia are by car, train, or plane. AIR Philadelphia’s main airport (PHL) is a 15-20 minute drive from University City, where the UPenn campus is located. There is a fast, cheap, and convenient train from the airport to University City: If you have cash you can buy your ticket on the train, but there are also ticket machines at the station which accept card and cash. From the University City train station it’s a 15 minute to walk to campus. It is also possible to fly to Newark (EWR). From there, it’s a further 2 hours train ride to 30th Street Station (Philadelphia’s main train station) if you catch an Amtrak train. This train is comfortable and convenient but more expensive. If you catch commuter rail from EWR to 30th Street, you have to change trains in Trenton. This is also easy, and it is substantially cheaper ($27 one way) than the Amtrak but takes somewhat longer. TRAIN If you travel by train, you will most likely arrive in Philadelphia at 30th Street Station. From there it’s a 20-25 minute walk to campus, or a short ride-share/taxi ride. You can also catch the Market Frankford Lightrail from 30th Street Station to 40th Street; from there you are 4 blocks away from campus. |
